Abbie Bredeman grew up in Jefferson City, graduating from Helias High School in 2000.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Truman State University in 2005, attaining her Registered Nurse certification the same year.  Her primary clinical experience and true passion in nursing is inpatient maternal-child health because this wellness-based specialty allows nurses to incorporate much teaching and health promotion.  Abbie began working in academic nursing education in 2010.  In May 2015, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree, with an emphasis in Nursing Education, from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  She has been an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Lincoln University since 2016.

Abbie is devoted to improving lactation healthcare by helping new mothers establish a fulfilling breastfeeding relationship with their newborns.  Her research topic of interest is evidence-based interventions to aid mothers in overcoming breastfeeding-related difficulties.

Abbie is married to her high school sweetheart, Blaine, and they have three energy-filled children.  They attend St. Peter’s Catholic Church.  Abbie enjoys helping at her children’s school planning parties and attending her children’s various sports and activities.  Abbie joined the PhC Board in January 2020.  She values this experience because the work of PhC and the inter-faith collaboration and inspirational and uplifting.
